Rock 365 : Day 35 : Hollington White #365photos

Day 35 : This is the most quarried rock currently in Staffordshire, the Hollington Sandstone. It comes in two colours, Hollington Red, and this, the Hollington White.  The white colour appears to be due to fault related fluids removing the iron staining.  Stratigraphically, it is the same unit as yesterday's Bromsgrove Sandstone Formation, and the latest BGS maps map it as such. However, the previous generation of maps show it as Hollington Formation, and the generation before that as Lower Keuper Sandstone.
